Pinili Campaign — every working doc in one place.
The Tourism Act (RA 9593) designates the Department of Tourism (DOT) to be the primary planning, programming, coordinating, implementing, and regulatory government agency in the development and promotion of tourism industry, both domestic and international market. RA 9593 further vests in the DOT to promote a tourism industry that is ecologically sustainable, responsible, participative, culturally sensitive, economically viable, and ethically and socially equitable for local communities. Furthermore, it aims to encourage activities and programs that promote tourism awareness, preserve the country’s diverse cultures and heritage, and instill a sense of history and a culture of tourism among the people.
Western Visayas is home to some of the Philippines' most compelling tourism assets: world-renowned beaches, vibrant cultural traditions, exceptional cuisine, living heritage, and warm, welcoming communities. Each province has cultivated its own distinct identity and tourism strengths, creating a region rich in authentic experiences. Yet these strengths are often promoted independently rather than as part of a larger regional story. While Boracay has successfully established international recognition and continues to serve as the region's primary tourism gateway, it also shapes global perceptions of Western Visayas, leaving many equally remarkable destinations less visible.
Tourism stakeholders increasingly recognize that visitors are seeking more than individual attractions. They are looking for immersive experiences, meaningful connections, and journeys that combine culture, nature, food, and people into a cohesive travel experience. This shift presents an opportunity to redefine Western Visayas not as a collection of separate destinations, but as one connected region where diverse experiences are easily discovered within a single journey.
As part of the continuous activity for the Philippine Culture, Heritage, and Arts Caravan, this program position Western Visayas as a seamless regional journey where every province contributes a distinct experience to a larger story. With only few regions in the Philippines offer such a remarkable concentration of islands, heritage towns, festivals, culinary traditions, natural landscapes, and cultural experiences within relatively short travel distances, this interconnected geography enables travelers to experience remarkable diversity of natural and cultural assets that instill a “pride of place” as a prelude to welcoming tourists and visitors.
With this in mind, the Department of Tourism Region VI will be rolling out the activation of our new tourism brand. Designed to celebrate the unique culture, creative industries, and vibrant travel destinations across Region VI, this milestone campaign will bring the best of the region directly to local patrons and travelers.
Part of the momentous event is an activation launching on October 5, 2026 and a 7-day exhibit featuring promotion of local tourism-related establishments and key brand partners, artisanal showcase highlighting the region's rich weaving heritage, including fine traditional fabrics such as Hablon, Piña, and Patadyong during the exhibit, and accreditation caravan of services on October 8-14, 2026.
